Welcome to Jo Brighton Work Skills Center
Jo Brighton Skills Center is a program centered around preparing moderately impaired students for adult life. Middle and High School aged students participate in instruction around how to safely interact with the community, social and emotional learning, and participate in elective classes alongside their general education peers. The academic instruction for these classrooms is based on the Common Core Essential Elements and the classrooms are located at Wilson Middle School and Roosevelt High School.
Students aged 18 to 26 have access to a vocational experience tied to what employers are looking for in future employees. Student instruction revolves around independent living skills, work site based learning opportunities, apartment living, social skills instruction, adapted PE and reproductive health, extracurricular activities, and many more opportunities to prepare them for their future. These classrooms are located at the Jo Brighton Skills Center main building.
