Preschool

The Early Childhood Center offers a full day AND a half day option for children who turn 3 years old before September 1st. Student learning is based upon the unique learning needs of each individual student and supported through independent exploration, small-group learning, and whole group instruction.

What will my child learn?

Teaching staff promote the development of:

Half-Day 3 year old Preschool

  • Children must be 3 years old on or before September 1, 2024.
  • Classes meet Tuesday and Thursday mornings, 8:30am - 11:30am.
  • Tuition is $120/month.

Full Day 3 year old Preschool with Child Care

  • Children must be at least 33 months of age as of September 1, 2024.
  • Care is available Monday through Friday, 7:00am - 4:30pm.
  • Families choose what days their child attends (2 days per week minimum).
  • Tuition is $38/day for up to 8 hours of care.
  • Extended Day (care beyond 8 hours) is an additional $5.00/day.

Enrollment Information

The annual enrollment period begins in the spring. Currently enrolled families are invited to re-enroll for the upcoming school year. New families who are Wyandotte residents can begin picking up enrollment packets in early March. New families who live out of district can begin picking up enrollment packets in early April. Please call the Early Childhood Center to confirm availability prior to picking up a packet.

Enrollment is on a first come, first served basis. A child's spot is not held until we receive the completed enrollment packet and the non-refundable registration fee. If space is not available at the time you come to enroll, your child can be placed on a waitlist.  Please be advised that the waitlist does not carry over year to year.

Half-Day 4 year old Preschool

  • Children who will be 4 years of age on or before September 1 will be given priority enrollment. 
  • If a child turns 4 after September 1, but before December 1, they will be placed on a waitlist until mid-August. If there is still space available at that time, the Early Childhood Center will contact parents.
  • Families can choose a morning or afternoon option:
    • Morning classes meet Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 8:30 – 11:30am.
    • Afternoon classes meet Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 12:30 – 3:30pm.
  • .Tuition is $180/month

Full Day 4 year old Preschool with Child Care

Full day 4 year old preschool offers families the flexibility to select what days per week their child attends.

  • Care is available Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 4:30pm.
  • Families choose what days their child attends (2 day per week minimum).
  • Tuition is $38/day for up to 8 hours of care.
  • If care is needed beyond 8 hours there is an additional $5/day charge.

Wyandotte Public Schools is proud to partner with the State of Michigan to provide a free 4 year old preschool program for qualifying students.

The Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) provides students with a high-quality preschool experience focused on:

  • Social/Emotional
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Social Studies
  • Science
  • Creative Development
  • Physical Development

Class Schedule

All GSRP classes run Monday through Thursday. Classes are held 8:15am - 3:15pm OR 8:30am - 3:30pm. 

Age Requirement

Your child may be eligible to participate in GSRP if your child will be 4 years old on or before September 1.  Children who turn 4 years old after September 1, but before December 1, will be placed on our waitlist until after September 1. Age requirements are set by the Michigan Department of Education.

How do I know if my child qualifies?

During the application process, the Early Childhood Center Program Director will determine if a child is eligible for GSRP. A child may qualify based on the following criteria:

  • Low income household
  • Does your child have a diagnosed disability?
  • Does your child have an identified developmental delay?
  • Does your child have severe or challenging behaviors?
  • Is a language other than English spoken in your home?
  • Did one of your child's parents receive their GED or not graduate from High School?
  • Is your child (or a parent) a victim of abuse or neglect?
  • Does your family have unstable housing?
  • Did one of your child's parents have their first child before the age of 20?
  • Do you live in a "high risk" neighborhood?

Application Process

Both Wyandotte residents and out-of-district families are eligible to apply. Wyandotte residents may pick up an enrollment packet in early March. Out of district families may pick up a packet in early April. Parents must schedule an appointment to return the required documentation and complete the GSRP application process.

Wyandotte is proud to offer Young Fives, a developmental kindergarten program designed to support children who turn five between June 15th and December 1st.

Program Location

Wyandotte Young 5’s program is currently housed at Monroe Elementary School. After attending Young Fives, students will attend kindergarten through fifth grade at their designated home school.
